FAQ - Everything you need to know


What deposit is required?

We require a deposit equal to 50% of rental (both cabin and equipment) is required for a reservation (min. $300) The balance is due upon arrival, we will also ask for an ID and credit card to keep on file. You can submit the deposit with, check or credit card. If you are mailing a check we would need the check within 2 weeks of your stay. There will be a $30.00 charge for any returned checks. Refunds will not be given for early departures


When at the resort payment options include:  Personal/Business checks or cash preferred.  MC, VI, Discover accepted, we do not accept American Express.  Except for deposits, there is a 3% charge on all credit cards 





What is your cancellation policy?

Your deposit is non-refundable. 





What are you check in and check out times?

Check in time is 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival

Check out time is 9:00 a.m. on the day of departure

We ask that you please do not arrive early to your cabin, we need every minute to make sure the cabins are cleaned for your arrival. We have a small but mighty cleaning staff that works very hard to ensure your cabin is very clean. They work extremely hard and have 15 cabins to to clean and maintain, so please be patient and wait until 4pm to arrive. Even if you have been to the resort previously, Please stop in at the office upon your arrival at the resort and we will get you checked in and to your cabin. You are always welcome to come early and launch your boat but please be prepared to do so without utilizing the cabin.






Do you allow pets?

We are a pet friendly resort. While we love pets, some people do not. So please follow these guidelines when bringing your furry friends to Sunrise Resort so we can keep them coming back for years to come. Most cabins are pet friendly, with the exception of #3, #8, and #15.  All pets must be controlled and kept on a leash at all times. Please pick up all pet waste immediately, we do have doggie bags hanging throughout the resort. Please keep your pets off the furniture and beds. There is a $125 fee per pet per week ($30 per day) in each cabin to cover our extra basic cleaning costs that come from having pets in the cabins (We have to thoroughly clean as though the next guests could have allergies). If for some reason our cleaning is above and beyond (including us having to remove pet waste) or there is damage, fees will be assessed accordingly. Pets are not allowed to be left alone in the cabins unless in a crate. A credit card number will be held to cover any damages and may be charged after our cleaning crew been through the cabin. One more thing, please talk to our staff if you are interested in a dog sitter at anytime during your stay. We do have some dog lovers around that might be willing to help.

*Sunrise Resort does not assume any liability for your dogs actions while on the  resort grounds, you are financially responsible for any damage caused by your pet.





All of our cabins are non-smoking. Smokers are welcome however, please enjoy your tobacco products outside.  Please pick up your “butts”, we have ashtrays for you to use. Please do not throw them in the fire rings or on the grounds. If you do decide to smoke in you cabin, you will be accessed a smoking fee of $150.






How close is the nearest grocery store?

We have limited items in the lodge: snacks, pop, etc. The nearest grocery store is in International Falls, about 30 miles to the North. There are 2 grocery stores in International Falls. There are two a convenience stores very near the resort (less than 3 miles) that offer a wide variety of items if you run out of something.







Do I need to bring bedding?

Yes, you do need to bring your own bedding. Only a mattress protector and fitted sheet are provided. Please remember pillows, blankets, and a comforter or sleeping bag. We have kept this policy for your safety.







Do you have a laundry facility on the premises?
At this time there is not a laundry facility at the resort, however there is a laundry in International Falls which is 30 miles to the north.  We do hope to have a laundry facility on site at the resort in the future.







Do you sell fishing licenses at your resort?
No, we do not sell fishing licenses at our resort. You can purchase them at the convenience store which is a few miles from the resort, or you can pick them up via the Minnesota DNR website http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/index.html

Please note there is a slot limit in the park for the walleye; walleye 18-27” are protected and must be returned to the lake.




Can I bring a boat?
You can bring your boat or pontoon, we have our own launch here for you to use. You will be allowed one dock slip per cabin bedroom included with your rental. When you arrive please check in at the office so we can assign your dock space.  The park does not have any motor size regulations on the waters. Only jet skis are prohibited in the park.

We also have boats and pontoons available to rent. Please let us know what your needs are and we will fit you with a boat or pontoon accordingly. When renting our boats you must follow coastguard rules regarding capacity, there will be no exceptions to this rule- it is for your safety.

Please know that boat reservations are not weather dependent. Due to the high demand for boats there will not be refunds given for inclement weather. 

We do have a few kayaks, paddleboats, and a canoe free to use for our guests. Children under 12 must be supervised at all times. We also have a large water tramp at the beach and playgrounds for the children to stay entertained! In our boathouse you can find extra lifejackets and paddles. All we ask is you please put everything away, including pulling everything all the way out of the water. 






Can I bring my own firewood?
No, the Minnesota DNR has put  restrictions on bringing your own firewood due to trying to deter the spread of several very damaging forest pests including the emerald ash borer (EAB), we ask that you please do not bring your own firewood to the park.  We do sell firewood bundles at the resort. Please check online before your arrival for any fire bans affecting us. This way you can plan ahead incase the ban BBQ grills. You can go to https://www.nps.gov/voya/index.htm for updates.





How far away are the restaurants in the area?
There are numerous restaurants/bars in the area less than 2 miles by car & less than a mile by boat.

What types of things are in the cabins?

The cabins are fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.  We have full bathroom facilities in the cabins and appliances in the cabins, toasters, coffee makers, etc.  


We will supply:  kitchen towels, hot pads, dish soap, bathroom tissue, and garbage bags. Each cabin has a coffee maker w/filters, toaster, microwave, charcoal grill, fire ring and picnic table. Please bring your personal towels bedding, and bath soaps.











The address to the resort is 12475 Burma Road, Kabetogama, MN 56669 so you will be able to mapquest for directions to get to the resort.

Policy- The important stuff!

Pets are $25.00 per day or $125.00 per week. This charge is per animal for the extra time it takes to thoroughly clean a cabin for the next guests. you will need to keep a credit card on file. If we find excessive mess and or damage after departure, you will be charged. Please clean up after your animals immediately, we have doggie bags throughout the premises. Keep them on a leash and with you at all times they cannot be left in the cabins alone unless they are in a crate. They must be kept off the beds and furniture. Please assure you clean your pets muddy paws before entering the cabins. Be courteous of other guests on the docks and swimming area. Please find another place to have your dog swim other then the beach.
